Chautauqua Literary Arts partners with the JHS class to present “Holidays in Poetry”

WRFA Jason sample speak with Sony Ton Aime, Michael I. Rudell Director of Literary Arts at Chautauqua Institution, and Betsy Rowe-Baehr, English teacher at Jamestown High School. The two share details about Holidays in poetry – a new community project combining poetry and the holidays. Part of the project involved Mr. Ton-Aime working with Ms. Rowe-Baehr’s Grade 10 English classes.

Several students also stopped by WRFA Studios and were recorded reciting their original works, including one in Spanish. The recording of these 15 students (accompanied by a poem by Ms. Rowe-Baehr) follows the interview. You can also find them individually in the playlist above, or by visiting The Holiday in Poetry playlist page on Soundcloud.

But they will also be featured at various times at the top of each hour, starting at 7 a.m. on December 24 and running until 8 p.m. on December 25.

Thanks to Sony for developing this project and to Betsy her students for sharing their work with the Jamestown community via WRFA.

Happy Holidays to the whole community.
